If you’re seeing condensation in your double glazing, the unit is going to need replacing
A failed hermetic seal will lead to misting and condensation because moist air will be entering the void. There’s no practical, long-term fix apart from replacing the entire unit.
When a double-glazed unit fails like this it is often referred to as ‘blown’ and whilst it’s not an urgent matter, it’s not going to do you any favours in terms of insulation and the possibility of the build up of mould.
At this property in Newark we replaced three faulty double-glazed units with high quality, modern units that will last.
The sealed gap between the panes of glass in a double-glazed unit is there to provide insulation. When condensation creeps in, not only is it unsightly, it can lead to further problems.
